Adam Wilson (downbound.com
and animal-rights.ca)
has been a vegetarian since 1996, and a vegan since 1997. In 2002, he
co-founded the Toronto Animal Rights Society, which engages in public
advocacy to promote veganism. In 2003, he founded Downbound.com,
which is an online retailer of vegan, organic, and fair labor
products.
His decision to adopt a
vegan lifestyle was done out of compassion for animals, but was
enabled by a friend’s personal testimonial to the health benefits of
vegetarianism. Today—a decade later—veganism has become much more
mainstream, but the perception that veganism is unhealthy is still a
barrier for people otherwise open to showing more compassion to
animals. This website is one way that Adam hopes to permanently lay
this myth to rest. Tell your friends about 1MonthChallenge.com!
Adam has been in good
health for the entire duration of his vegan lifestyle, but will aim to
radically improve his health and muscle mass during this 1 Month
Challenge. Working out at the gym has been a regular part of Adam’s
life since June of 2005, but the pressures of work have kept him away
for the two months prior to this challenge—and his body shows it in
diminished muscle mass and increased abdominal fat!
During this 1 Month
Challenge, Adam will chronicle his daily efforts here, including
everything he puts into his body and everything he puts his body
through. Visit regularly, and spread the word about

Kimberly Carroll (kimberlycarroll.com) has
been a vegetarian since 1997, and a vegan since March 2006. She's host of hit TV show, “Take
This House and Sell It!”, which airs in the
U.S. and Canada. Since the early 90s, she's been a popular TV host, producer, and actor.
Among her many accolades, she was named Winnipeg's "Favorite
Television Personality" and Edmonton's "Sexiest Woman".
She recently founded Divine
Redhead Productions to create sassy spiritual, wellness, and
conscious living television programming.
Kimberly grew up in a
farming community, and was an avid
meat eater. Like most people,
she always had compassion for animals, but managed to disconnect
from the fact that it was actually animals on her plate. It was
an experience on a friend’s farm that led Kimberly to vegetarianism. Two twin calves
destined for the slaughterhouse stole her heart and inspired her to
finally put compassion before her appetite. Giving up meat has
been one of the most rewarding decisions she's ever made—both
physically and spiritually.
As a
television personality, Kimberly's appearance is very important, and the
camera does add 10 pounds! By adopting a
vegetarian diet, she lost 10 pounds due to reduced fat
consumption. Through working out
on-and-off, she has maintained a healthy body,
but has never pushed herself to the ultimate fitness test. Now, with
one year as a healthy vegan under her belt, she is ready for the 1
Month Challenge!
